Note that the extra point per night for suites only applies to stays in suites booked when a reservation is originally made. It doesn't apply to stays in suites that result from an upgrade. Being loyal to MSC Cruises starts paying off in a noticeable way once you reach the Gold level of the MSC Voyagers Club program. Some purchases — future cruise deposits, cash advances and casino charges — are excluded from the onboard purchase bonus. All other onboard purchases count — even the hotel service charges, beverage service charges and taxes that show up on final bills.
Captain’s Circle Membership Benefits
This latter perk will replace the limited number of free minutes of internet that Platinum and Elite members of the Captain's Club have gotten on Princess ships until now. Welcome to High Seas Cruising, your resource for exploring the exciting world of cruise ship travel. We provide expert advice, insightful reviews, and comprehensive guides to help seasoned and novice cruisers create their ideal sea journeys. Whether you desire adventure, luxury, or exploration, High Seas Cruising is your compass to unforgettable cruise vacations.
Learn About Reward Programs
Note that this complimentary laundry service excludes same-day service. As is the case with the Ruby level, you can reach the Platinum level in as few as one cruise, though it's not easy. You would need to take an initial sailing of 51 nights or longer. That's quite long, we know, but Princess does offer some very long sailings, including around-the-world trips that extend beyond 100 days.

This program is designed to recognize and reward cruisers who frequently sail with Princess, although you can unlock benefits after just one cruise. The program offers a wealth of added value through exclusive benefits and privileges that cruisers can take advantage of whether they are seasoned cruisers or first-time voyagers. You'll have to take 16 seven-night cruises to reach the Elite level, assuming you stay in standard cabins. If you stay in suites, you could reach Elite status in just eight sailings. However, in theory, you also could reach Elite status in just two sailings if they were among the longest sailings on the Princess schedule. However, starting with the second tier, Ruby, you'll need to monitor your progress in accumulating both cruise credits and cruise days.
While Princess’s loyalty program provides fewer benefits than some competitors, you don’t need as many cruises to reach the highest tier. Note that, as is often the case with cruise line loyalty programs, Princess customers do not have to requalify for status each year. Captain's Circle members keep their points at the end of each year and continue to accrue points indefinitely. That means that someone who hits Elite status will remain at that top tier level forever (or until Princess makes a change to the program).
Priority boarding means you'll get on the ship more quickly than other passengers, giving you more time on your first day to enjoy its offerings. Priority access to restaurant reservations means you'll get the best table times. Sure, it’s nice to gather with fellow frequent cruisers, but the perk is really not that exciting or great, especially when compared with other cruise lines. And, if you book the Princess Plus or Princess Premier Packages that give you access to free drinks all sailing, this benefit is useless.

Members of the Captain's Circle program can rise through its tiers to the Platinum and Elite level two different ways -- either by hitting milestones for "cruise credits" or for "cruise days." The Platinum tier is where you’ll start to earn meaningful rewards. After your fifth cruise or 50 cruise days, you ascend to Platinum status, unlocking a suite of benefits and discounts.
The Best Loyalty Program at Sea
In addition to the above, you can earn points when spending money on MSC Cruises ships for extras or when booking extras before sailing. You'll earn 100 points for every $150 spent on prepaid and onboard expenses. If you cruise with family or friends, we think the best perk in Holland America's program is the complimentary cruise fare for kids and extra guests staying in your cabin on select sailings. As noted above, this is a 4-Star Mariner perk that also carries over to 5-Star Mariners. Note that you will also get cruise day credits for the days you spend touring on land with Holland America cruisetours in Alaska. Holland America cruisetours in Alaska typically combine a seven-night Alaska cruise with a few days touring the state in motorcoaches or by train.
Best elite perk
Rewards for past voyages or for special consideration when booking future cruises should be noted in your cruise documents and is no ones business except yours. When a cruise card is 'swiped' the reading computer isn't looking at what color the card is it's just retrieving data. I'm the kind of person that likes to wear his designer cloths with the labels on the inside and find any form of status labeling tasteless ;).
Royal Caribbean will give you $2,400 toward the purchase of a cruise at 700 and 1,050 points; you'll get $3,200 toward the purchase of a cruise at 1,400 points and above. After hitting the Pinnacle Club level, you'll get an additional free cruise every time you accumulate another 350 points. In other words, you'll get an initial free cruise after hitting 700 points and then additional cruises at 1,050 points, 1,400 points, 1,750 points, and so on.
You earn one point for every day you cruise on a Carnival Cruise Line ship. You don't have to worry about different earning levels for different cabin categories or different types of bookings, as is the case with some lines. Perhaps the greatest thing about cruise line loyalty programs is that unlike most airline or hotel loyalty programs, they don't usually require customers to requalify for status every year. As I evaluate what cruise line to try next, I start my research with a line’s loyalty program.
What I really love about Elite Status though is the complimentary mini bar set-up and complimentary Grapevine Wine Tasting Event. The mini-bar set-up is one per stateroom while the Tasting Event is one per Elite Status member. Such "forever status" is one of the great allures of cruise line frequent cruiser programs. Most airline frequent flyer programs, by contrast, require loyalty members to requalify for status each year.
Each passenger will be entitled only to the amenities and rewards offered by their individual loyalty statuses. Exceptions might include perks that are awarded on a per-stateroom basis, rather than a per-passenger basis. However, I often purchase Princess Plus, which bundles MedallionNet WiFi, drinks, and gratuities with my cruise fare.
We love that Holland America will let kids sail free on select journeys at this tier. The line isn't necessarily known as a family line, but if you have kids (or grandkids) and are a Holland America fan, this could save you a lot of money. You can use the perk at either the Palo eateries on Disney's four older ships or the Palo Steakhouse eatery on the line's new Disney Wish.
You will also receive preferential pricing offers, admission to exclusive onboard events, access to Captain’s Circle Center online, and access to a Circle Host onboard the ship. In recognition of joining the Captain’s Circle, you will get a Gold member recognition pin, as well as collectable destination stamps. It bumps the discounts for laundry service, Wi-Fi, shore excursions and Windstar merchandise to 10%. If you're the kind of cruiser who does a shore excursion in every port and regularly uses onboard services, such as laundry and Wi-Fi, this could save you $100 or more on a typical seven-night cruise. For starters, members earn one "cruise credit" for each cruise.
